What an unbelievable week we have had. Whilst the Year 5 children were creating memories that will last a life time, the other children continued with their hard work – Mr Walmsley was really pleased to see some fantastic Year 4 work on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Year 5 Residential - White Hall
WOW! What an amazing three days we have all had at White Hall this past week. The children were absolutely fantastic throughout the trip and they were a credit to both the school and their parents – we wish you could have been there to hear all of the wonderful things that the centre said about them. Over the three days, the children took part in rock scrambling, stream scrambling, leap of faith, zip wire, indoor rock climbing and low ropes during the day and played Secret Agents and Haggis Bandits at night. Throughout their time at White Hall, they demonstrated our school values superbly, showing resilience, kindness, teamwork, curiosity, respect and responsibility (your children were actually responsible for cleaning their own tables at meals times, making their beds and keeping their rooms tidy…… ish!). Mr Walmsley would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful staff for giving up their free time to ensure our children have an experience that they will never forget. He would also like to thank one of our Governors, Mark Johnson, for volunteering to help throughout the duration of the trip – this is going above and beyond his voluntary role as a school Governor.

Attendance
As you will have seen on the news over the last 3 months, the government are pushing attendance. We are pleased to say that for the last three weeks, we have had the following attendances:
Week 1 – 99.49% Week 2 – 98.89% Week 3 – 98.32%
Based on the most recent DFE data, we are 8th out of the 328 schools in our local authority and nationally we are in the top 10% of all school. Thank you for your support in achieving these outcomes. Let’s continue to work together to ensure our wonderful school continues to be a shining light in terms of attendance.
Gold Award
Congratulations to this week’s Gold Award Winners can be seen in the picture on the left. Reasons for winning the award ranged from excellent teamwork and resilience at White Hall to superb maths and English work. We are proud of the children’s excellent work ethic.
Harvest Celebrations
Our Family Harvest Breakfast, Gardening & Assembly will take place on Tuesday 15th October. Please log onto ParentPay to book a slot (8am or 8:30am) and order a sausage or bacon sandwich for all family members attending by Friday 4th October. Please note, children should not attend by themselves and must be accompanied by an adult. After breakfast, parents and grandparents are welcome to join us for a quick pre-Winter tidy up around our grounds and then we finish with our Harvest Assembly. Further details will be made available once food numbers have been confirmed.

Book Fair
Please join us for our Book Fair sale on Monday 30th September to Wednesday 2nd October, 3.30pm to 4pm in the School Hall next week. We have a wide selection of books available for your children - they would be perfect for birthday or Christmas presents. On the day, please meet your child on the playground first and then come into school to make your purchases. We will also be open during Reading Morning on Thursday 3rd October 8.45am to 9.15am. Cash or card payments are accepted. For older children wishing to choose their own books, money should be sent in a named purse to spend at lunchtime or afterschool. For every book bought at Book Fair, school will earn books as a reward. We look forward to seeing you there.
After school clubs
At Northfield Junior School, we pride ourselves on providing the children with a variety of extra-curricular activities. Once a child is signed up, the expectation is that the child attends unless we have heard from the parent. With this is mind, please contact school to let us know if your child is not attending the club – you may leave a voicemail if the phoneline is engaged. Thank you for your support.
Car Parking
For health and safety reasons, please keep walking through the school car park to a minimum. Whilst we understand that parking around our school can be difficult, please refrain from parking on the corners of the road. We have children who walk home from school on their own and we would like to ensure that they can cross the road as safely as possible.
Button Badge Winners
This week, we had two values for the children to focus on: teamwork and kindness. The school councillors then chose a member of their class who has displayed these values throughout the week. We would like to congratulate this week’s button badge winners – you are all fantastic for upholding the school values!
All Day Breakfast
|
This Thursday, the kitchen will be putting on one of the children’s favourite meals…. the all day breakfast! This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to try a school dinner. If you would like a school dinner on Thursday, please go to ParentPay to order your child’s meal at a cost of £3.25.
