On Monday 16th October Year 5 had an exciting trip to Weston Park Museum.
We started with a brilliant workshop connected to our topic of Ancient Greece. We followed the fascinating story of Athena and then set about building our very own Parthenon, the Temple to Athena. All of the Year 5's showed great team work in constructing the temple, which showed the internal as well as the external structure of this World Heritage monument.
We then found out why the Parthenon was built and looked at how the Ancient Greeks left an amazing legacy in architectural design, influencing the style the museum. We spent a short time at the end of our visit sketching the outside of the building.
After our workshop we enjoyed lunch, followed by a tour of the museum.
Throughout the day the Year 5’s were inquisitive, knowledgeable and showed exemplary behaviour.
