We have had such a fantastic day visiting Creswell Crags today to kick off our topic about The Stone Age.
We divided into four tribes the Irish Elk, Ancient Bison, Wild Horses and the Lynx. Each tribe took part in four different activities whilst we were there including a cave visit, survival skills, gorge walk and an archaelogical bone activity.
All of the children enjoyed visiting Mother Grundy's Parlour, which is a smaller cave with an ancient drawing in it. the children got to ask and answer lots of questions about The Stone Age and learnt lots about the people who would've lived in the caves. The children also made some music with ancient instruments.
During the Survival Skills workshop, we used hides, branches and rope to make shelters and even had a turn at trying to spear a wild animal!
Some interesting animals were made when we tried to put some real skeletons back together and a calming walk around the gorge finished the day off nicely.
Of course a visit to the shop was in order as there were so many fantastic things to buy. A good day was had by all.
Take a look at some photos here.
