Skateboarding Workshops & Spring Activity Day

On Tuesday 25th March, Rubicon visited to complete a skateboarding session with each class. The response to these sessions was extremely positive; many children gave ‘rave’ reviews and asked if they can do other sessions like this one.

Here’s what some of our children said:

“It was amazing!! Sooooo fun.” (Zach, Y5)

“I liked the Pancake Flip. It was a fun trick.” (Henry and Farley Y5)

Farley, Henry and Zack told us that it felt really good mastering the ‘Pancake Flip’. They said they persevered and used resilience skills to be able to complete the trick successfully.

As a teacher and the PE co-ordinator, I felt really proud watching my class grow in confidence. They got back up and tried again if they didn’t succeed the first time. By the end of the session, everyone had achieved and improved their skateboarding skills. (Miss Burton)

On Thursday we had a visit from Jack, who is part of the SHAPE Sports Partnership. As a class we learnt a game which we called ‘Capture the Treasure.’ The aim of the game was to get past the defenders and get the treasure which was tennis balls. At first there were two defenders who tried to tig the people who were getting the treasure for their team. At the end of the game, the team with the most treasure were the winners. The game got harder because more defenders were added each time we reset, at the end we had four defenders and it was really tricky! We had great fun practising our attacking and defending skills.
