National Videogame Museum

As part of the Kids in Museums project, Year 5 visited the National Videogame Museum (NVM) in Sheffield! The NVM is home to a wide range of video games, some developed locally, from well-known arcade games to more unusual and experimental games.

The children learned about what goes into running a museum, and what job roles exist in museums, before evaluating the existing range of exhibits and developing their own ideas for the future of the museum. It wouldn't be a proper trip to the NVM without some play, and we were able to try out a wide range of games before heading home!

Prior to this trip, some Northfield teachers had already worked with the NVM on the Worldbuilders project, which sought to develop ideas around the creation of fictional worlds and creative writing.
