On Thursday 1st July, Northfield had a super fun Sports Day! The house teams (Diamonds, Emeralds, Rubies and Sapphires) completed against one another to determine who would win this year’s Sports Day trophy! Many of our Northfield parents came to support their children in both the morning and afternoon sessions. In the morning, Y3&4 participated in their races, and in the afternoon the Y5&6s took part in theirs. There was a range of different events: sprints, shuttle marathons, team relays, kangaroo hop and the caterpillar race. There were also some traditional Sports Day races: egg & spoon, sack and bean bag races. It was a delight to see the determination and passion in all of the teams, as well as hear the cheering support from all our children and parents. What a great day! Well done to all competitors, and congratulations to our winners…the Diamonds!
“There were energetic races and some of them were very tiring! I worked hard and was determined to win my race,” Ella K.
“Even though the emeralds came last, it’s not just about the winning, it’s about the effort that we put in,” Ruby J.
“It was full of sportsmanship, and we were all having fun,” Betsy.
“When I was running, it was challenging because the rubies kept taking over. That made me feel like I needed to keep trying,” Elsie.
Evie has summed up Sports Day in three words: Fun, Energetic and Amazing.
